Wholesale + Brand Development Manager

Inside Out Agency is a fashion wholesale showroom and brand development platform working at the intersection of craft, culture, and commerce.
We partner with a curated roster of process-oriented brands and connect them with a network of independent and top-tier retailers. Our work is focused on building a more thoughtful and sustainable model of growth—one that values long-term relationships, integrity of product, and cultural relevance alongside strong commercial performance.
We operate as both a sales platform and a strategic partner to our brands.
THE ROLE
This is not a traditional showroom sales role.
This is a high-ownership position responsible for growing a portfolio of brands to meaningful scale within our retail network.
You will manage 3-4 brands with a annual sales targets, and you will be responsible for:
Developing and executing sales strategy
Building and expanding retail partnerships
Driving both new business and account growth
Acting as a key feedback loop between brands and the market
This role sits at the intersection of: sales + brand development + relationship building.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
Brand Growth
Own revenue performance across assigned brands ($2–3M target)
Build and execute seasonal and annual sales strategies
Shape distribution (where and how brands show up in the market)
Retail Partnerships
Manage and grow relationships with a portfolio of retailers, including top-tier accounts
Drive appointment booking and engagement leading into market
Build long-term partnerships—not transactional accounts
New Business Development
Identify and convert new retail partners
Expand the network through outreach, market research, and in-person visits
Market Execution
Lead showroom appointments during market
Present brands with clarity and conviction
Drive cross-selling across the IOA portfolio
Brand Development
Work closely with founders on product direction, pricing and positioning, and merchandising and sell-through
Translate retail feedback into actionable insights
HOW YOU'LL WORK
This role combines:
Independent, self-directed work
In-person relationship building
High-intensity seasonal sales periods
You'll be expected to:
Operate autonomously day-to-day
Stay highly organized across multiple brands and timelines
Be fully present and engaged during market periods
Represent both the agency and your brands with clarity and taste
WHO YOU ARE
3–5+ years in fashion wholesale (multi-brand preferred, denim experience a huge ++)
Strong understanding of the independent retail landscape
Existing relationships with retailers (mid-tier and/or major accounts)
Highly organized with excellent follow-through
Comfortable owning both strategy and execution
Strong communicator with a natural ability to build relationships
Interested in process-driven brands, sustainability, and evolving retail models
COMPENSATION & GROWTH
Salary: $65,000–$75,000
Commission:
1% on all collected wholesale revenue
3% on revenue above $2M annually
On-Target Earnings: ~$85,000–$120,000+
Commission is paid quarterly and based on collected revenue (not orders placed).
TIME COMMITMENT & LOCATION
Full-time role (40 hours/week) with seasonal fluctuations
Based in New York City or Hudson Valley
In-person expectations:
2–3 days/week in NYC showroom
Additional in-person collaboration in Hudson Valley as needed
Full in-person participation required during market:
~2 weeks for Spring/Fall
~5 days for Pre-collections
Regular travel required for store visits and market-related activity.

What was the starting point, what actions did you take, and what changed as a result?
Showroom Intern
The showroom intern will assist during sales meetings with retailers in the showroom and at trade shows. They will take a record of buyers’ selections and create spreadsheets to monitor outreach and sales. They will also learn the JOOR platform and utilize it to create linesheets and orders. They will be responsible for our sample collections and making sure they are merchandised before and after each meeting. The sales intern will also research new target retailers, visit local stores, and participate in weekly meetings.
Our team is small and we work in creative and efficient ways to maximize our services for our clients. If you are interested in small business and hands on experience in the fashion and wholesale world, this is an excellent opportunity for you.
Our ideal candidate must be organized and passionate about fashion, sales and business. It helps to have a sparkling personality and a genuine interest in people and their businesses.
Must be available 2 days per week, at least 10am-4pm.
